Reading for young children is an important way to help them build language skills. It exposes them to new words and ways of using language. It also helps them learn general information about the world, which makes it easier for them to adapt better to their new homes. With the generous donations of local libraries, community centers, and individuals, we were able to set up a library containing over 400 books (and growing!) for elementary age kids. Each child who attends the weekend program is encouraged to take a book home to read. In exchange, they earn a star for each book they read which they can trade in for treats!
