PINK DRAGONFLY WEEKEND PROGRAM

We designed The Pink Dragonfly Weekend Program for elementary aged children when we noticed that they were left out of other refugee youth programs.  Most youth programs were targeted towards teens and older.  However, the younger children were often left out because of lack of transportation to get to the downtown programs.  In response, we developed the weekend program to take place right in the housing development that was home to a large refugee population.  The program uses tools such as reading, arts, crafts, and games as a safe space for young children to practice their English skills, build connections with local youth, and just have fun.  The drop in program services over 100 elementary age children living in this housing development.
