Sasha and Eshal have been working with the local refugee population in Pittsburgh since 2017. Their involvement began when they were exposed to large groups of newly arrived refugees at their local community centers. While interacting with these families, they learned about the struggles and challenges they faced on their journey from their home country to their new one. The girls were equally impressed with the resilience, courage, and hope the refugees demonstrated. Inspired, the girls have established Pink Dragonfly, a volunteer-run organization that is involved in various initiatives that aims to ease that transition.
Through the years, they recognized that refugee youth faced psychological trauma, social isolation, and cultural alienation. As a result, their most recent initiatives aim to combat these barriers.
